A Brief History:

Hi-Plains Baptist Church began as a mission church in 1984. This was basically a bible study that saw the changed lives of enough people that the group constituted as a young vibrant body of believers. Hi-Plains Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church and is committed to the teaching of scripture as found verse by verse in the bible. The commitment of Hi-Plains is to God Himself and the teaching of His word. We proclaim the name of Christ so that he might be made known. 

Hi-Plains Baptist Church has seen three pastors since its inception and depends on the Lord in the appointing of those positions of leadership.

Hi-Plains has changed location from its original planting as the tornado of 1991 forced that move. The church is now at 1001 H. Avenue in Limon CO. God has blessed and has given the church 16 acres of land near the interstate to build a ministry. This is a significant responsibility because He allowed us to have the land and the building without any debt. Being debt-free is how we plan to continue to operate as the Lord wills. The recent building project has allowed for additional classrooms, a large fellowship area, and kitchen.

Church Governance at Hi-Plains

Elder-Led and Full accountability to the Congregation: This means that those that have been called to teach and preach the word of God are given the responsibility to lead the body as it sees fit by the word of God and the direction of the Holy Spirit. The body holds these men accountable to that biblical teaching and trusts them to lead in the proper direction. This leadership style is established in scripture and offers clear qualifications for the role of elder as well as deacon. The consistent pattern throughout the New Testament is that a plurality of leaders to oversee each local body of believers. The specific duties given to these men assumes a clearly defined group of church members who are shepherded by their ministry of care, these are the members of the church.   What a privilege to gather together as a body of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
